What is it really like to work in an engineering company? Students from the third year of the Mechanical Engineering programme at Střední průmyslová škola Zlín (Secondary Technical School Zlín) had the opportunity to find out through our Engineer for a Day programme.
During the first half of 2026, six students completed a one-day work placement at GENICZECH-M. They first learned about the company, visited our production and assembly departments, and saw real customer projects that we manufacture for leading European machine builders. Our precision-engineered components are used in technologies for the packaging, pharmaceutical, food-processing and printing industries.
The most valuable part of the programme, however, is the hands-on experience. Students are not just observers, nor do they complete simple demonstration tasks. Instead, each participant receives a real assignment related to a specific job role and spends the day solving it in the same way as our employees. Guided by experienced colleagues, they experience tasks such as manufacturing engineering or quality inspection and gain a realistic understanding of everyday work in modern precision engineering.
This practical approach allows students to gain genuine industry experience, apply their technical knowledge and skills, and discover which areas of engineering interest them the most. For one day, they become an active part of our team and experience what working in engineering is really like.
We are delighted with the students' feedback. They rated the programme very positively and said they would recommend it to their classmates as an excellent opportunity to experience real engineering practice while still at school.
